Sharon Furlong Talks About Fracking

Environmental activist Sharon Furlong spoke about various water quality issues at the September 15, 2019, Friends of Fisher and Mack fundraiser. In this video clip she warns about how progress cleaning up the Delaware River can be undone quickly and about the potential impact of fracking on the Delaware River Basin should the total ban be lifted. Newtown Township passed a resolution calling upon the Delaware River Basin Commission to “enact a complete and permanent ban on natural gas development and hydraulic fracturing and all related activities (including drilling, fracking, wastewater processing and discharges from and water withdrawals for drilling and fracking operations) throughout the basin.” The resolution was sponsored by John Mack and approved unanimously by the Newtown Board of Supervisors in March 2018 (read “Newtown Township Supports a Complete & Permanent Ban on Fracking and Related Activities”).
